Notes / Documentation:

William Fox was born in Nottinghamshire, England and christened there in the Church of England in Eastwood. His parents, Thomas and Ann Fox immigrated to the United States in 1862. They settled in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The family included William (who was the youngest) and his older siblings: Alice Fox Perkins Rodgers; Samuel Fox; and David Fox. One other sibling, his older brother Joseph Fox, died in England in 1854 at the age of three. William met and married his wife, Sarah Deets in Plymouth. Their three eldest children were born in Pennsylvania.

William and Sarah Fox settled in Braidwood, Reed Township, Will County Illinois in 1880. William's older brother Samuel Fox owned land in Braidwood in 1878. It is likely they choose to settle in Braidwood because Samuel was there. By 1896, the Foxes moved to Braceville, Grundy County, Illinois. After the Braceville Coal Company closed in 1910, the town was largely abandoned. In 1913, William and Sarah moved onto 12 acres in Mazon Township, Grundy County. They were living there during the summer of 1918 when my great-grandmother, Alice Fox Pickett, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania paid a visit to her uncle William Fox. William died between the summer of 1918 and January 1920 when the census was enumerated. Sarah was a widow in January 1920, she lived with her daughter Sarah Fox Shield. Sarah died between January 1920 and December 1922

In 1870, they were living in Washington, Will County, Illinois. John and second wife Anna were living with his son Henry's family in Washington, Will County, Illinois. Soon after that, it appears both William and John left Will County. William ended up in Martin County, Minnesota probably by 1888. Henry went to Jasper County, Indiana before heading to Wilkin County, Minnesota. Even Edward Lankow, left Will County and moved to Foxhome, Wilkin County, Minnesota. It is unclear if any of his children by Wilhelmina survived. John Wolter married Anna Christiana Elizabeth Aherns 10 Sept 1874 in Will County. Henry Wolter also married Anna Dorthea Haseman 1 January 1874 in Will County. After Wilhelmina's death, Edward Lankow married a Maggie around 1888 or 1889 probably in either Will County or Kankakee County.
