J. H. BRAYTON, merchant, Peotone; dealer in clothing, boots and shoes, hats and caps and 
gents' furnishing goods; born in New York State, where he lived until 7 years of age, 
when he removed with his parents to Manteno, Kankakee Co., IL, living there until 21 years 
of age, when he removed to Joliet, Will Co., where he lived one year, when he came to 
Peotone and engaged in the above business, with Robert WELLS, for six months, when he 
purchased the interest of his partner, enlarged the stock, and now keeps the only 
exclusive stock of the kind in Peotone. He married, Dec. 10, 1873, Ella CHRISTIAN; she 
was born Feb. 27, 1854, in Du Page Co., IL.
