BURKE, livery, feed and sale stable, Joliet; born in Lowell, Mass., May 11, 1840, removing when quite young to Joliet, Ill., where he has since lived, being engaged in various pursuits in his youth when not attending school; his first business eenterprise was in trucking to which he has added the livery, feed and sale stable, carrying on the only business of this kind west of the river, and keeping a good stock of horses and carriages for rent which receive his personal attention, and are always found in first-class order. He married July 11, 1856, in Joliet to Mary HENNESY; she was a native of Ireland, they have by this union eleven children now living; viz., Mary A., John R., Bernard, Helen, Katie, Anna, Thomas F., William, Sarah, Hattie, and Alice.
