Joseph S. CLAUS, of the firm of CLAUS Brothers, general merchants, Frankfort Station; 
was born in Cook Co., IL. Dec. 29, 1844; came to Frankfort in 1868, where he has since 
resided. He was married May 22, 1872, to Miss Mary E. CARPENTER, who was born in Oneida
Co., N. Y., June 18, 1845, and who died Sept. 9, 1875. Mr. CLAUS is at present holding 
the office of Justice of the Peace, which position he has maintained nearly two years.
