Crete; was born in New York, Sept. 29, 1824, and is the son of David and Ellenor (GRIGGS) COSSAART; father a native of New York; soldier; of the war of 1812; mother from New Jersey; in 1850, moved to Oneida Co., N. Y.; here he was engaged in the manufacture of scythes, pitchforks and farming implements; in 1854, he came West to Illinois, and was engaged in working in different parts of Will Co. at the carpenter and joiner trade; in 1864, he moved on the present homestead; here he has remained ever since, engaged in farming. Married twice; first wife, C. TALMAGE, of New Jersey; second wife, Sarah MCCLAIN; have two children. Mr. COSSAART owns a fine, improved farm of 228 acres.
