Joliet; born in Galway Co., Ireland in 1828; he was raised on a farm until he was 20 years old; in 1848, he came to America and landed in Boston; he then went to Watertown and worked on a farm; in 1850, he went to Lockport, and remained there a short time; the same fall, he went to Plainfield; in 1853, he moved to Joliet and bought a farm, where he has resided up to the present time; he was the son of John and Mary CRAUGHWILL, both natives of Ireland. Was married Oct. 3, 1850, to Mary LANE, by whom he has seven children. Democrat, and Catholic. He served as School Director a number of years, and, in 1874, was elected School Trustee. He came to America with only a few pennies, and went bravely to work, and by good management he has succeeded in accumulating a fortune, and today he owns a beautiful and well-improved farm of 600 acres.
