DEEMING, foreman grocery store, Lockport; was born in Liecestershire, England, May 31, 1843; in 1855, he emigrated to America, and settled in Lockport, IL; be entered the employ of Stephen DOWSE as clerk in his grocery store, and remained in his employ about nine years; leaving Lockport, he next located in Ottawa, La Salle Co., remaining, however, but a few months; he next engaged in carpentering for a short time; in 1865, he engaged with Norton & Co., and at the end of six months took charge of their large grocery and boat stores, which position be now holds. He was married Dec. 26,1868, to Annie M. SMITH, a native of Illinois; has one child - Leonora M., born Oct. 21, 1869. Mr. DEEMING is at present Superintendent of the M. E. Church Sabbath school.
