Y.; he was born at Fishkill Landing, on the Hudson River, July 3, 1849; when he was about 18 years old be went to New York City and worked at his trade of a carpenter until after the great fire in Chicago in 1871; he then went to that city and took part in its rebuilding during the next two years; in 1873, he came to Joliet and began business as a contractor and builder; he is acknowledged to be one of the most skillful and reliable workmen in his line of business; he has built some of the best residences in the city, besides other buildings, among which may be mentioned St. Mary's Church, on which he did the carpenter work. He was married June 5, 1876, to Miss Nellie O'REILY, daughter of James O'REILY, of Joliet; they have one child - James.
