Richard H. GURNEY, livery, Wilmington; born in Gloucestershire, England, Feb. 9, 1837; came to the United States with his father's family, locating at Joliet, this county, in 1844; after a residence in Channahou Twp. for several years, he removed to Wilmington, his present home, in 1863, and engaged in his present business; owns 720 acres of farm and coal lands, valued at $30,000, and city property valued at $10,000; was a member of City Council in 1869 and 1870; member of Wilmington Lodge, No. 208, A., F. & A. M.; Mr. GURNEY is giving considerable attention to the breeding of Norman grades of horses, and also extensively engaged in raising cattle for Chicago and other markets.
