J. D. HAHN, farmer, Sec. 1; P. O. Plainfield. The subject of this sketch was born in Columbiana, now Mahoning, Co., Ohio, July 3, 1826. He married Miss Rebecca SHREFFLER June 7, 1849; she was born in Pennsylvania April 4, 1829; they have six children - William T., Helen R., Kate J., Alice M., John D. S. and Nettie M. He lived in Ohio twenty-one years, when he came to Will Co., IL, and settled in Plainfield Twp.; he engaged in farming, and, in 1857, he came to his present place and has lived here ever since; he is no office-seeker, his only offices being connected with the school and road. He owns 207 acres of land in this county, which has been principally earned by his own labor and management.
