John HEYDON, Sr., farmer and stock-raiser, Sec. 12; P. O. Elwood; owns 665 acres of land, valued at $55 per acre; born in Carlow Co., Ireland, March 15, 1814. Married Hannah KINSLER, in Carlow Co., in 1834; she was born in said county in 1814; they emigrated to the United States in 1834, and located in Kennebec Co., Maine, where they lived for seventeen years; then moved to Illinois in 1851, and located in Joliet, where they lived three years; thence to the place which he now owns, in 1854; have five children living, Daniel; Thomas, married Margaret BYRON; John, Jr., married Bridget BERGAN; Catherine, widow of the late P. TULLEY, and Hannah. When Mr. HEYDON came to this county, his finances were very limited, but by industry, care and economy, he has accumulated a competency, and is one of the most extensive farmers in Will Co.; he has given to those of his family, who are doing for themselves, a good start in the world; Thomas got 160 acres of land on Sections 8 and 17, and to John, Jr., he gave 180 acres of land on Secs. 11 and 12; besides having, as above stated, 665 acres in reserve, in a high state of cultivation, in a beautiful location. Such is the reward of industry. Daniel and Hannah reside with their parents on the old homestead.
