John HIBNER, farming, Sec. 8; P. O. Joliet; the subject of this sketch was born in Guernsey Co, Ohio, about 1804. He married Miss Nancy KIRTZ in 1837; she was born in York Co, Penn.; they have had fourteen children, twelve living, viz., George W., Frank A., James C., David, Martin E., John W., William A., Elizabeth, Phobe Jane, Nancy A., Sarah A. and Lucinda. He lived in Ohio till 1847, when he moved to Missouri, where he remained one year; from here he went to Wisconsin, remaining six months; in 1848, he came to Will Co, IL, and settled on his present place, and has lived here since; he has not been an office-seeker; he started in poor circumstances, and now owns about 500 acres in this county, which he has earned principally by his own labor.
