Robert JAMES, insurance agent, Braidwood; this gentleman was born in Scotland, in 1851, and 
is the son of John and Mary (LAW) JAMES, Of Scotland. His father was a miner. Mr. JAMES in 
1868, immigrated to America; came direct to Illinois, and settled in Braidwood; here he was 
first engaged in working in the coalmines. He received a full business college education in 
Cleveland, Ohio; in 1874, returned to Braidwood, and entered the insurance business this 
business he has been in ever since; is agent for some of the most reliable insurance 
companies in the United States.
