Hazard JONES, farmer; P. O. Wilmington; the subject of this sketch is one of the prominent farmers of Wesley Twp.; was born in Chenango Co., N. Y., April 1, 1826, and is the son of Samuel and Annie (HAZARD) JONES, who emigrated West and settled in Will Co., Wesley Twp., on the present farm, in 1851; here Mr. JONES has been engaged in farming ever since; when the family first came here, the surrounding country was comparatively new; built all the improvements on the, farm; Mr. and Mrs. JONES have retired from the farm, and are now living in Wilmington, Will Co., IL. Mr. Hazard JONES married Elizabeth GOODWIN; have seven children, and is the daughter of William GOODWIN, who was born in Watertown, N. Y., in 1815; raised on a farm, and emigrated West to Illinois, and settled in, Joliet, Will Co., in 1832; one of the first settlers of the county; he helped build the first house in Joliet; he died respected and honored by his fellow-men, June 18, 1877, Mr. JONES is a Republican in politics. The farm contains some 600 acres.
