Townsend W. KAHLER, grocery and bakery, Wilmington; born in Columbia Co., Penn., Aug. 15, 1836, where he resided until his removal to Illinois, in May, 1859, locating in Florence Twp., this county, where he engaged first in teaching, and afterward in farming; removed to Wilmington, his present home, in 1872, and engaged in his present business, under the firm name of MCQUEEN, KAHLER & Co., which was soon after changed to MCQUEEN & KAHLER, and, two years later, he sold his interest in the firm, and commenced business on his own account; owns eighty acres of land in Florence Twp., valued at $3,000, and city property to the value of $1,000. Served as Town Clerk, in Florence Twp., two years, and member of the Board of School Trustees, in this township. Married in 1858 to Miss Emily PRICE, who was born in Columbia Co., Penn.; one child by this union - Clarence H. Mr. K. is a member of Wilmington Lodge, No. 301, I. O. O. F.
