Henry C. KNOWLTON, Cashier of the Will County National Bank, Joliet; is a son of Calvin KNOWLTON, President of the above-named bank; he was born in Spencer, Worcester Co., Mass., April 29,1842; he lived in the city of Worcester until he was 12 years of age, his father being engaged in business in that city; at the age of 12 years, he accompanied his parents to New Albany, Ind.; thence to Michigan City, and in 1856, to Joliet; he received an English education in the public schools, and in 1861, entered the office of his father, then Assistant Superintendent of the Michigan Central Railroad; he remained there until the organization of the Will County National Bank, which he entered as Assistant Cashier; in 1877 he was elected Cashier. He was married on the 20th of November 1870, to Miss Sophie LIPPENCOTT, of Wilkes-Barre, Penn., and has one child - Joseph L.
