John LANTZ, farmer; P. O. Naperville; was born in Lancaster Co., Penn., Nov. 26, 1815, and is the son of Peter and Catherine (SCHELLY) LANTZ, of Pennsylvania; father a farmer; Mr. LANTZ was raised on his fathers farm, and, in 1850, came West to Illinois, and settled in Will Co., Wheatland Twp.; here he has been engaged in farming; they first purchased eighty acres of land, and Mr. LANTZ, by hard work and good management, at one time owned 480, acres of land. He married Annie M. SCHOTT; have six children - Isaac V., born 1840 (married Lena STAEDLE, of Germany, who died April, 1876; four children; he is now farming the old homestead of 200 acres); Jacob, born 1842 (married Isabella FENDEMAN, of Illinois; five children); Betsey Ann, born 1843 (married Christian SCHAAL; seven children); Sarah L. (married Israel STARK; seven children); Peter, born 1846 (married Amelia MINNICH, of Pennsylvania; two children); Susan born 1850 (married John STONER; four children). Mr. LANTZ has had forty grandchildren. Is a member of the Evangelical Church.
