Frank H. METCALF, farming and teaching; P. O. Plainfield; the above gentleman is a native of Ohio; he was born in Lake Co. Nov. 23, 1840. He married Miss Augusta METCALF Nov. 20, 1864; she was born in Troy Twp., Will Co., IL, June 21,1837; they have two adopted children, viz., Frank W. and Flora NILLSON. He lived in Ohio twenty-three years, and then came to his present place, engaging in farming and teaching; his early days were spent in the district school; at 18, he attended the Western Reserve Academy and Willoughby Collegiate Institute, and later he attended the Oberlin College. While at the latter place, he enlisted in the 100-day service, but was not in active service. He has eighty acres here which he has principally earned by his own labor. He has been principal of the Channahon and Oswego schools; for the past five years he has taught, the district school near by.
