S. W. METCALF, farming and stock, Sec. 34; P. O. Plainfield; this gentleman was born in the village of Plainfield Sept. 16, 1835. He married Miss Sarah BILLING July 4, 1869; she was born in England April 1, 1845. He lived but a short time in the village, when, with his parents, he moved out on the farm, and, in 1865, he came to his present place and has lived here since. His parents, Hardy and Mrs. Judith B. RUSSELL METCALF, were natives of New Hampshire and New York; they were married in New York Nov. 24, 1826; they came to Will Co. in 1835, and settled in Plainfield, engaging in farming; he died June 29, 1860; Mrs. METCALF is living here on the old homestead with her daughter.
