S. R. MOREY, farmer, Sec. 17; P. O. Wilmington; owns eighty acres, valued at $40 per acre. Has held the offices of Township Clerk, School Treasurer and Road Overseer. Born May 7, 1830, in Clearfield (now Elk) Co., Pa.; came to Will Co., with his father's family Dec. 31, 1847. Married Louisa H. SMITH in Oswego Twp., Kendall Co., IL, Jan. 3, 1861; she was born March 15, 1840, in Connecticut, and came to Kane Co., IL, with her parents in 1852; thence to Kendall Co. in 1853; four children - Emeline, Grace, Horace, and Selah. His two brothers, Vinal and Charles, enlisted in the late rebellion in 1862; Vinal, in the 88th I. V I. was in the service until the close of the war, and Charles, in the 100th I. V. I., was in the service until 1864, at which time he was discharged, on account of sickness; he died at home Nov. 4, 1865; Oscar also enlisted Feb. 24, 1864, and served until December, 1865, at which date he was discharged.
