Samuel C. RUSSELL, farmer and stock-raiser; P. O. Greengarden; one of our early settlers; was 
born in St. John, N. B., Aug. 4, 1823; came to the United States in 1841, and to this State, 
and settled in Greengarden, Will Co., in 1855; his farm consists of eighty acres, valued at 
$4,000. He was married Nov. 25, 1846, to Miss Susan W. AVERY, who was born in Plainfield 
Plain, N. H., Feb. 15, 1825; they have had five children, four of whom are living, viz., 
Samuel A., Mary J., John W. and Emma L.; deceased, Emily M.
