Daniel SLICK, farmer; P. O. Naperville; was born in Lancaster Co., Penn., Aug. 7, 1823, and is the son of John and Annie (STONER) SLICK, of Lancaster Co., Penn.; father was a carpenter by trade; Mr. SLICK at 18 commenced to learn his trade, shoemaking, and followed this principally while in Pennsylvania; in 1844, he emigrated West to Illinois, and first settled in Du Page Co. While here, he married Margaret SWILLY, of Lancaster Co., Penn.; he then came to Will Co.; returned to Du Page; thence to the present farm here; he has been engaged in farming ever since; Mr. SLICK first made a purchase of forty acres of Government land, at $1.25 per acre; owns to-day 120 acres of fine, improved land; when he came West he was very poor; to-day is one of the successful farmers of Wheatland Twp. Member of the Evangelical Church.
