O., East Wheatland; was born in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, Sept. 6, 1822, and is the son of Benjamin THOMSON, of Scotland; when Mr. THOMSON was but 17 years of age, he commenced to learn the carpenter trade; this business he followed for over twenty-three years, working in Scotland, England and America; in 1854, he emigrated to America, and landed in New York City, and, on June 29, 1854, arrived in Will Co., IL; here he has lived ever since. Mr. THOMSON has held several offices of public trust; at present, holds office as Township Assessor, which office he was elected to in 1877. Is a Republican in politics, and a Presbyterian in religion. He married Miss Mary PATTERSON, of Scotland.
