THOMSON, farmer, Sec. 11; P. O. Joliet. The subject of this sketch was born in West Turin, Lewis Co., N. Y., April 22, 1843. He married Miss Helen A. HADCOCK Dec. 25, 1867; she is a native of Watertown, N. Y., and was born Dec. 25, 1846; they have three children - Mary L., Earl W. and Sarah G. He lived in New York until 1872, except two years spent in California and Oregon, where he was engaged as civil engineer for the city of Portland; in 1872, he came to Illinois, and, in 1873, he settled on his present place; the only offices he has held have been connected with the school and road; he owns 240 acres in this township; in November, 1878, he was elected on the National ticket, Representative from the Fifteenth District.
