Adam VATTER, Jr., insurance and lightning-rod agent, and partner in the firm of VATTER 
& MERZ, pop manufacturers, Monee; one of the early settlers; was born in Germany March 
11, 1852; came to the United States in 1855, and to this State, and settled in Monee 
with his father's family in the same year. He was married to Miss Bertha KETTERING, who 
was born in Chicago April 9, 1853; they have had two children, one of whom is living, 
viz., Julia; deceased, an infant.
