O. Gooding's Grove; was born in Rhenish, Prussia, Germany, in October, 1822; he lived there until he was 3 years of age, when he came to this country in 1852; he first lived in Du Page Co., IL, three months, and then lived with Augustus GOODING about a year; in the spring of 1854, he moved where he now lives; he owns 138 acres. He married his first wife, Annie PIEFER, of Rhenish, Prussia, Germany, in 1852; she died in April 1862; they had four children; two died in infancy - Martin, born May 4, 1853; Mary, born in 1854, died the same year. He married Margaret HERMON, of Rhenish, Prussia, in May, 1862; they have seven children - Mary, born Dec. 29, 1866; Katie, born June 28, 1867; Maria, born March 14, 1869; Lena, born June 24, 1871; Attila, born March 24, 1873; Susanna, born Nov. 28, 1874, and Pete, born July 30, 1878; two died - Margaret, in 1864, and an infant.
