Braidwood, Reed Township, Will County, Illinois Death: Burial: Marriage: Spouse: Child No. 8: Charles FOX Birth: January 1894 in ? Braidwood, Reed Township, Will County, Illinois Death: Burial: Marriage: Spouse: Em UNKNOWN Notes / Documentation: William Fox was born in Nottinghamshire, England and christened there in the Church of England in Eastwood. His parents, Thomas and Ann Fox immigrated to the United States in 1862. They settled in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The family included William (who was the youngest) and his older siblings: Alice Fox Perkins Rodgers; Samuel Fox; and David Fox. One other sibling, his older brother Joseph Fox, died in England in 1854 at the age of three. William met and married his wife, Sarah Deets in Plymouth. Their three eldest children were born in Pennsylvania.

William and Sarah Fox settled in Braidwood, Reed Township, Will County Illinois in 1880. William’s older brother Samuel Fox owned land in Braidwood in 1878. It is likely they choose to settle in Braidwood because Samuel was there. By 1896, the Foxes moved to Braceville, Grundy County, Illinois. After the Braceville Coal Company closed in 1910, the town was largely abandoned. In 1913, William and Sarah moved onto 12 acres in Mazon Township, Grundy County. They were living there during the summer of 1918 when my great-grandmother, Alice Fox Pickett, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania paid a visit to her uncle William Fox. William died between the summer of 1918 and January 1920 when the census was enumerated. Sarah was a widow in January 1920, she lived with her daughter Sarah Fox Shield. Sarah died between January 1920 and December 1922
