Hyland (sometimes listed as Edward F. Hyland, Highland, Hiland) was a private with Company D, 100th Illinois Infantry (Volunteers). He took a bullet in the chestt, which lodged near his left lung, at the Battle of Stone River, Tennessee. They moved from Plainfield, Will County, Illinois to Lake City, Calhoun County, Iowa and afterwards removed to Casey, Guthrie County, IA. Edward at the time of his Discharge for Disability was 5’7″ tall with light hair, blue eyes. Farmer, born Plainfield. Edward is buried in a grave with no headstone in Plainfield Cemetary.

She was Mary Ferris Watson, b. abt. 1846, PA and d. Dec. 12, 1922. This couple may have been married in Will or LaSalle Co., IL Children were Bertha, Mahlon, Mary, Hattie,Richard and Will. This family also moved to Western Springs, IL then to Fairfax, MArin Co., CA where the family owned a ranch.
