Four Generations of Hulberts, ca 1920

This photo was taken ca 1920 and is of four generations of Hulberts. From left to right: either Raymond or Joseph Hulbert, Charles Ray Hulbert, Clinton Raymond Hulbert, and Oren S. Hulbert. Oren settled in Will Co. in 1881, moving from Ohio. He owned and operated a general store for several years before turning it over to his son Clinton. Clinton didn’t move to Will Co. until 1885, but made his mark after his arrival. He was postmaster from 1896-1915, elected supervisor of Channahon in 1907, was chairman of the board of supervisors of Will Co., and was Republican committeeman for at least 38 years. Charles Ray died in 1945, Clinton in 1941, and Oren in 1925. Submitted by: Jill Doyle Jul 2003

Kirkpatrick Reunion – ca 1905

I can’t put a date on this, but it could have been about 1905 or so. Pictured third from right in second row is Annie Kirkpatrick Long. Next to her are two of her sisters, most probably Janet Johnston Kirkpatrick and Mary Gibson Kirkpatrick Napier. Mary died in 1909, Annie in 1923. Annie’s husband, Stephen Dennis Long, who died in 1907, may or may not be pictured here. Annie ran a boarding house for a time in Channahon. I would love to get a positive ID on the others in this picture. Submitted by: Jill Doyle Jul 2003
