He has a younger brother, Telesphore A. Paradee, who was born in Illinois in 1870. I am looking for records of their birth and their mother’s death. Their mother was Marie Sarah DEMERS PARADIS. They were living in Quebec in 1861. Does anyone know which Catholic church would have been the local parish for the Wilmington area? By 1880 the family, minus Sarah, was listed on the census in Kansas. Thanks for your help.

My Grandmother is Evelyn Mance and her father is Charles Mance who was married to Mary Ann Brelich. I cannot find him in the 1910 census for Braidwood, Will Co., IL I believe he died later than this, but am seeking help in finding his obit from the Braidwood or Joliet newspapers, or any other info on Antonio and his descendants.

James and Margaret O’NEILL.One would have died in 1902 and the other in 1904-early 1905.They lived in Joliet, where my grandfather was born on June 8,1893.His name was Harry James.My grandfather was taken to an orphanage I believe was in Joliet;it was a Catholic facility,at the death of either the parent who died when he was 9 or after the death of his second parent when he was 11. FIDDYMENT; posted by Alan Loomis, May 3, 2005 I am trying to find information about Walter J. Fiddyment who is buried in the Lockport Cemetery for his great granddaughter here in Valparaiso, Indiana. He was born November 22, 1845 and died April 22, 1900. His tombstone indicates he belonged to the Grand Army of the Republic which says that he was a union soldier during the Civil War. His great granddaughter would like to obtain more information about him, particularly what unit or units he served with and any additional information about his was service. She also indicates that he worked on the I and M Canal. I assume that he may have belogned to the Lockport Post # 401 of the G A R. If the records of this post are located in a library or museum in Will County, I would appreciate knowing the locatoin. Any help in locating information about Walter Fiddyment would be appreciated. BUTLER, ELLIOT, GODFREY, REED; posted by Heidi Graf, June 19, 2005 I live in Herbert A. GODFREY’s home in the H. A. Godfrey Subdivision of Lockport, Will, IL. I was wondering if anyone out there knew why the subdivison was named after Herbert A. Godfrey.
My land history is as follows.
9/11/1848: The land was first settled by William REED and family (wife Ann and children Nathaniel, Mary A., William, Cristine, Hugh, and James, maybe other children). He purchased 40 acres of land.
The REED family lived on this property until at least 1880, but I cannot tell if it was 1890, since the census fragment does not include Will County.
1890s or early 1900s: The land was then purchased by Herbert GODFREY (son of Austin GODFREY) and family (wife Henrietta (aka “Etta” or “Emma”) BUTLER and their daughter Irene).
The home we live in was built in 1912. There is a provision on our deed that is dated 1915 April 1 allowing joint ownership of the well on the property’s edge to the neighbor.
Herbert GODFREY’s daughter Irene married Raymond ELLIOT. They were living in our home in the 1920 and 1930 Census’ with their children and Irene’s parents.
Does anyone out there know what Herbert did that was so significant as to name the subdivision after him? Why wouldn’t they name it after William REED, who was the first to settle our land in Lockport?
Any advice or help would be wonderful!

LIZER, POLK, WEEKS; posted by Janet Weeks, Aug 16, 2005 I am helping my husband to further his research of two surnames. WEEKS and LIZER. His g-g-grandfather, Cole WEEKS he believes was born in NH, was in military-War of 1812, possibly other. Cole WEEKS came to IL, in about 1833 married Mary POLK (dau of Edmund POLK), and had three children with her, William P.1834, Elvira 1836, and Wesley 1838. He left her with three children and not returning; she moved into her parents home and filed for a divorce. Mary (POLK) WEEKS married a farmer, David LIZER in 1843. They moved to Lockport IL and during the next seven years had seven sons. In 1867 they moved to Greene Co., IA and then to Carroll Co., IA in 1872. In 1878, one of her sons by David LIZER travelled with a group of pioneers going to KS. Included was Mary and children. My husband’s g-grandfather, William P. WEEKS, a son of Mary and Cole WEEKS along with his eldest dau were going to central KS to began a homestead to be readied for the rest of his family the next year. I am hoping that others are researching the Cole WEEKS family and the LIZER family.

The time frame is 1841 to 1853. The counties in Illinois are Will, Kankakee, and Henderson. So the family surnames are LYNN/LINN, WATSON, and HUEY or HEUEY. Any information about these families would be appreciated. I believe they were originally from Pennsylvania, and migrated through possibly Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, to Kansas and then Nebraska.

The name has been spelled many different ways. (NOVARIO, NOVARIA, NAVERIO, NAVARIO, NOVARO etc.) Frank came to this country sometime between 1888-1898. These dates are from census readings. I am interested in finding out Frank’s immigration and naturalization papers, I have searched in Bureau and LaSalle counties (where he lived) but have found nothing. He also lived in Braidwood and Coal City for a while. Some of his children were baptized here. He was a coal miner. He lived from 1860-1930.

Wife was Edith Marie Mitchell-Fowler; children: Denver Lavern (b 1922), James Delmar (b 1924), Elmo Irving (b 1925), Violet Marie (b 1927) and Leona Marie (b 1928). They lived on a farm on Mills Road during these time periods. Father, Denver Fowler died in an accident around 1929. Any family connection would be welcomed.

JOLIET; posted by Jim Gillis, Jan 2, 2006 I discovered that an ancestor I am researching may have been an inmate at a prison in Will County (JOLIET?), IL in the 1910 census. The name was Claude Bailey and I am trying to find information on Claude L. Bailey who married Hazel Gillis on 4 July 1909 probably in Danville, Vermilion, IL. They had one daughter Helen Louise Bailey. I have no further information on him, except that I believe he was born in Chicago, IL and probably died there. He was still living in Chicago in 1969 when Hazel died. I have no parents, birth, death dates on him. Because there is little mention of him in the family and Hazel changed her name back to Gillis this may be an indication that this Claude Bailey in the 1910 census of Will County may be the Claude Bailey I am searching for. Is there someone I can write to get this inmates record, I am sure it must still be on file somewhere in the system. Jim Gillis
