MEYER, WILLE; posted by Marlene Hurney, Aug 8, 2004 I am searching for the family of my great grandmother, Elisabeth WILLE born April 8, 1872 in Prussia. I am posting on this site as I know there are a lot of WILLE people who lived in this county and I am hoping someone will find a connection to her family. I think I have found her on the Ship Vandalia leaving Hamburg May 4, 1872 for the U S A. With her were Heinrich (born about 1821) and Dora (born about 1832) WILLE who are old enough to be her parents. Also are Wilhe and Fr who are born in the 1860’s who could be siblings. Next I find Elisabeth marrying Chas. MEYER born December 31, 1838 at the First Zion Lutheran Church in Chicago on September 28, 1872. Charles is from Eldena, Mecklenburg, Germany. Chas. was also on the Vandalia with the WILLE’s. In 1874 they purchased land in Clayton County, Iowa. They attended the Lutheran Church in Clayton Center in Clayton Co., Iowa. Around 1890 they moved to Postvile, Alamakee County, Iowa. Around 1905 they purchased land in Brule County, South Dakota. I found on the 1880 census a Heinrich WILLE working as a farm hand for Lewis Balgamon in York Township, DuPage County, Illinois. The age of Heinrich matches my Heinrich but I do not have documentation to lead me to believe he is our family. I do not have any information on Dora, Wihle or Fr. Please contact me if you have any information which would help me. Thank you.
