Earl O’BRIEN

O’BRIEN, Earl D. Formerly of Wilmington. Passed away at the Imperial Care Center in Joliet. Friday, January 3, 1986. Age 89 years. Born in Elwood, July 12, 1896 and has lived in the Wilmington area all his life. Was a retired farmer. Member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. Was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John F. O’BRIEN, pioneer residents of Channahon township, besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret O’BRIEN and Mrs. Bess NAAL (Clarence), five brothers, Jay R. (Florence), Frank, Leo, Lawrence and Thomas (Julia). He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary NAAL (Albert) and Mrs. Stella SOHAN (Robert) of Joliet, one nephew, James E. (Virginia) of Joliet, three nieces, Mrs. Mary Agnes SHEPLEY (G. Raymond) of Joliet, Mrs. Mary Jane GLOVIC (Richard) of Glen Ellyn, IL and Mrs. Amber Lee HENDRON (Robert) of Wilmington, also five grandnieces and 12 grandnephews. Funeral services will be held from the Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington, Monday, January 6, at 9:15 a.m. to the St. Rose Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark FRACARO officiating. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. A prayer service will be conducted at 8 p.m., Sunday. Interment Mt. Olivet cemetery in Wilmington. Memorials of your choice would be appreciated.

Alfred OEHLERKING

Alfred W. Oehlerking, 82, of Crescent City for eight months, formerly of Peotone and Monee, died Monday, October 20, 2003, at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sauk Trail and Cicero Ave. in Richton Park, where he was a member. Rev. Robert Bartz will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Richton Park. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Oehlerking was a retired farmer. He was born January 28, 1921, in Monee Township, the son of Fred and Mary Stade Oehlerking. Surviving are 1 niece, Elsie (William) Erickson of Grant Park; 1 nephew, Glen (Karen) Oehlerking of St. Anne; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Three brothers, Edwin, Arthur and Theodore Oehlerking; and 3 sisters, Rosina Meyer, Ella Oehlerking and Selma Esch, are deceased.

Pearl Mabel OETTER nee DEIST Age 98. Late of Ennis, MT, formerly of Frankfort died Sunday January 2, 2000 in Ennis. Preceded in death by her daughter Betty Lou CARROLL (1960), one son Kenneth LeVerne OETTER (1985), one grandson Charles OETTER (1955). Survived by one daughter Faye June (Jack) WATKINS of Ennis, MT, one son Donald L. (Rena) of Houston, TX. Former member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and Women’s Fellowship, Royal Neighors of America,Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion. Ruth OFFERMANN

Visitation for Ruth M. Offermann, 67, of Peotone, will be from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Peotone, where she was a member. Rev. Bill Riegle will officiate. Burial will be in Peotone Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ or to the Joliet Area Community Hospice. She died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Joliet Area Community Hospice. Ms. Offermann was born October 21, 1937, in Beecher, the daughter of Herman and Marie Lattz Bruens. She was a member of the Peotone Women’s Club. She enjoyed golfing, cross-stitching, sewing and was an avid card player. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Bonnie Offermann of Peotone; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Pat Nelson and Donna and Joe Chiariello, all of Darien; six grandchildren, Jenna and Ryan Offermann, Brett and Brad Nelson, Joey and Abby Chiariello; one brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Kitty Bruens of Wildwood, Florida.; one sister and brother-in-law, Gerry and Russell Klipp of Peotone; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents are deceased.

Hildur T. OGREN

Hildur T. OGREN, 89, 1603 9th Ave., died at 3:05p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 1984, in Park Strathmoor nursing home after a long illness. Born Sept. 2, 1892, in Joliet, daughter of Nels and Bathila DAHL. Lived most of her life in Rockford, coming from Joliet. Married Alex G. OGREN in Rockford, in 1925. Employed as an assembler by J.I. Case Co. Member First Lutheran Church. Survivors include a stepson and daughter-in-law, Arnold and Margaret OGREN, Rockfortd; three grandchildren, Philip, Rockford, Capt. Peter OGREN, with the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas, and Priscilla McCOY Galveston, Texas; five great-grandchilddren, two nieces, Betty TINDALE, Waukegan and Helen ANDERSON, Rockford; two nephews, Howard SANTER, Pasadena, Calif. and Richard DAHL, Rockford; several grandnieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, a sister, Tillie SANTER, and a brother, Charles DAHL. Services at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, in Wilburn Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., with Dr. David POWERS of First Lutheran Church officiating. Burial in Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet. Friends may call an hour prior to service Monday at the funeral home. Memorial established for the church.

Carl OLDENBURG

Carl OLDENBURG Dies at Age 80 Rites tomorrow Carl OLDENBURG, 80 of Beecher died Wednsday following a lingering illness. Mr. OLDENBURG was an employe of the Leising Lumber company for 39 years prior to his retirment two years ago. He was born October 8, 1877 near Beecher. His body will lie in state from noon today until the services tomorrow at the Hack chapel. Last rites will be held tomorrow at 2 pm at the chapel. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s cemetery in Beecher. The Rev. Robert Kamprath, pstor of Zion Lutheran church, will officiate at the service. Survivitrs are two brothers Edward and Martin both of Beecher.

Minnie OLDENBURG

Mrs. Minnie OLDENBURG At her home in Crete last Sturday. Nrs. Minnie OLDENBURG passed away at the age of 62. She has been a resident of Crete since 1855, when she came toghter with her parents from Hessin, Germany. Where she was born Feb. 20, 1851. Mrs OLDENBURG was married to Henry OLDENBURG in 1871, and thirteen children were born to the union, ten of whom survive. They are Herman, Louis, Edward, Charles, Martin and Theodore, Miss Annie and Minnie, and Mrs. John APKING od Goodenow and Mrs. J WHITE of Chicago. Other relatives, who with many friends, mourn the death of the excellent woman, inculde three sisters Mrs.C BARTELS living in Nebraska, Mrs. F HEMKER, Crete and Mrs.J HANNAH of Blue Island. Funeral services were held Wednesday and burial was in Beecher.

Maria OLDENDORF

Mrs. Maria OLDENDORF, of Monee, one of the oldest residents, died there last Friday, aged 80 years. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Wente, of Crete, were held Sunday and interment was in Crete cemetery.

Ave CLEVELAND OLSON (nee ANDERSON) Age 99, passed away Friday, December 31, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Late of Crest Hill, IL. She is survived by her loving children; one son, Darrell (Julie) CLEVELAND; two daughters, DeLoris (Tom) HUTTENHOFF and Darlyne (Jim) HISCHIER one daughter-in-law, Betty CLEVELAND; two stepsons, Gene (Becky) OLSON and Lee (Mary) OLSON; one step-daughter, Joan (Don) STOUT. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clayton CLEVELAND (1962) and her second husband, Lloyd OLSON (1997); two sons, Lloyd CLEVELAND and Earl Ray CLEVELAND. Edward ONKEN

Edward H. Onken, D-Day veteran, 94, of Peotone, died Thursday, February 23, 2006, at Provena Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home, Bourbonnais. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Bill Riegle will officiate. Interment will be in Peotone Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Campbell, Jim Petreikis, Ken Shivers, Bill Devlin, Duane Carder, Dave Davies, Harry Biesterfeld and Bernie Thacker. Mr. Onken worked 18 years for Bennett Industries and 22 years for Peotone Bank and Trust. He was born April 19, 1911, in Will Township, Peotone, the son of John and Johanna Reents Onken. He served 46 months in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served with the 29th Infantry Division for 34 months and was a member of the Peotone American Legion Post 392, the Frankfort V.F.W., the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) of Bradley, and the 29th Division Association. Surviving are two sisters, Helena Remmers and Rinelda Bremer, both of Germany; and cousins, Rita Ann and Ralph S. Batson of Manteno and Joyce McKay of Joliet. His wife, the former Anna H. Depperman, died in 1979; and one brother, John Onken, died June 6, 1944, in Normandy, France.
