Submitted by: Norman Shreffler Daniel Shreffler (1793-1860) Daniel was born in Centra Co., Penn. The 5th child of Henry Shreffler. He was a “Weaver of Cloth” by trade, but also a preacher and an inventer. He married Catharine Dauberman in 1814, moved to Will County in 1842. Daniel and Catherine’s children were Leah (1815-1861), John D. (1817-?), Catherine J. (1819-?), Andrew Hefner (1826-1896), and Rebecca (1829-?). Samuel Shreffler (1805-1890) Samuel was born in Penn., the 3rd oldest of 13 children of John Henry and Mary Shreffler. Samuel purchased Government Land in Lawrence Co., IL in 1840. submitted by Wayne Reed William H. H., that’s how my father [also William] always referred to him. My dad didn’t know his grandfather who died when dad had just turned 2 years old. The rest of the family simply called him William. He was born in 1840, the year Harrison was elected president. I suppose that would have been enough reason for the name in many families, but the truth is that William’s grand father, Charles Reed served in the 2 nd Revolutionary War [1812-1814] with General Harrison and that seems a more likely reason for the name. Johann Diedrich Heinrich Friedrich Pauling and Dorothea Marie Ridder submitted by Linda Pauling They immigrated in 1850 from Gilten, Hannover, Germany. I have direct line information from the Gilten Evangelical Church going back to 1545. This family had 3 sons and 3 daughters. Just Heinrich Friedrich PAULING was married to Marie Christine Bruns. He died in Monee, Will County in 1893 and is buried in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Monee. I find him in the 1860 census for Monee.
