Succumbs At 77; Rites Saturday December 22, 1942 Mrs. Amanda E. MCCANN, 77 years old, 323 Illinois Street, died last night at her home after a lingering illness. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence and Vernon, four daughters, Mrs. Harry GARDNER of Pittsburgh, PA. Mrs. Thomas MULDOON of Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Earl PACE, of Bureau, Ill. and Mrs. Evelyn ROBERTSON, of Gary, 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and four brothers and a sister residing in York, Pa. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the English Lutheran Church, the Rev. William BOLDT officiating, and burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.

Numerous nieces and nephews. Proceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. MCCANN, parents, Samuel and Nannie (HATCH) FULTON, two sisters, Gladys PFAFF and Lois NELSON. Born in Joliet, was a lifetime resident. Was formerly employed at Saint Joseph Hospital. Member of the Faith Bible Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Funeral services Saturday, March 23, 1991, 10:30 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Rd. Rev. Paul BARNES officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. L.J. MCCANN Dies; Veteran Rail Clerk Lawrence J. MCCANN, 512 Henderson St. died in Silver Cross Hospital Tuesday at the age of 59, after a lingering illness. He had been employed as a rate clerk by the Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern Railway Co. for the past 44 years. Born in Baltimore, he came to Joliet 46 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; two daughters, Mrs. John (Marilyn) BOURG and Mrs. Robert L. (Nancy) GARDNER; one son, Robert F. MCCANN; one brother, Vernon, all of Joliet; six stepchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Florence MULDOON, Orlando Fla. Mrs. Earl (Iva) PACE, Bureau, Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) ROBERTSON, Valparaiso, Ind, and Mrs. Mamie BAXTER, Pittsburgh, PA. and 14 granchildren. Mr. MCCANN was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. Funeral services will be conducted at the Papesh Funeral Home, 500 N. Chicago St. at 10:00 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Donald L. KREUGER officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 o’clock this evening and from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday.

John McCOWLIFF

Death of the Oldest Man in Will County. — Mr. John McCOWLIFF, Sr., aged 101 years, died at his residence in this city on last Thursday morning, after a brief ness. Mr. McCowliff was a native of Ireland, and for over twenty years a resident of Joliet. Up to his 97th year he enjoyed remarkable good health, with all his faculties unimpared. During the last four years his eyesight failed him, yet he was happy and contented under his affliction.

Jean McCULLOUGH

Services were held Monday morning for Jean (Mud) Mudro McCullough, 53 of Peotone, who died Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at her home. She was born June 25, 1952 in Hammond, Indiana and was a former pari-mutual clerk at Balmoral Park in Crete and was a retired tax consultant. She was a graduate of University of Illinois with an Mba in finance and was a coach for Peotone Little League baseball. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone and the Park Forest Aqua Club. Mrs. McCullough is survived by her husband, Steven (Flint) McCullough; 2 sons, Joe McCullough and Pfc Steve Mccullough, both of Peotone; 1 sister, Lee Mudro and 4 brothers, P.J. (Pat) Mudro of Peotone, her twin William (Pam) Mudro of Lansing; Tom Mudro of Beecher and John (Andrea) Mudro of Munster, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Patricia Burns Mudro and a brother Scott Mudro. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated August 22 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Father Michael Ginter officated. Burial was in Peotone Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe and Steve Mccullough, P.J. Mudro, William Mudro, Tom Mudro, and John Mudro. Arrangements were under the direction of Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone.

Rose McDONALD

Chicago, Jan 9, 1895: Long Lived Family The funeral of Mrs. Rose MCDONALD who died at Lockport, near here, aged 102 years, will be held Wednesday. Her father, who brought her family to Lockport in 1848, lived to be 102, and his wife was over 90 when she died. They were in the service of Lord Dunne, an Irish aristocrat who squandered his estate and was found dead near Lockport many years ago.

Catherine Smith McGEE

Mrs. Wm. McGEE Passes away at Claire City 27TH News of the death of Mrs. Wm. McGee, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Price at Claire City, Oct. 27, 1921, was received here Thursday evening. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Catherine Smith was born April 12, 1848 at Joliet, Illinois and at the time of her death was 73 years, 6 months and 15 days. On Sept. 18, 1863, she was united in marriage to Wm. McGee, of Pontiac, Illinois, who died Sept. 9, 1917, and to this union ten children were born all of whom are still living except Irene, who died in infancy in 1873. Mr. and Mrs. McGee, with four small children, moved to Rock county, near Luverne, Minn., where they met with all the hardships of early pioneer life, but with their unfailing courage and cheerfulness they endured them all. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and died with the same faith in which she had lived. The deceased leaves to mourn her death nine children, twenty-four grandchildren and two great grand children. The children are James, of Sisseton, S.D.; Mrs. E. W. Adams, of Casper, Wyo.; John, of Beaver Creek Minn.; Tom and William of Carpenter, Wyo; Mrs. J. R. Price, of Claire City, S. D.; Mrs. M. Ellsworth, of Magnolia, Minn.; Charles, of Milbank, S. D.; and Frank, of Beaver Creek, Minn., all of whom, except William, were at her bedside as she breathed her last. The funeral took place from the home of Mrs. Price and after services in the Catholic Church at Sisseton, conducted by Rev. Fr. Cunniff, the remains were interred in the Sisseton Catholic cemetery.

William McGEE

Death of William McGee Sisseton is called to mourn the death of one of her most aged citizens, Mr. William MCGEE, whose death occurred at his home in this city on the night of Sunday, Sept. 9, after several weeks of illness, during which his life, spent with over ninety years of journey, gradually drew to a peaceful close. His faithful companion of over half a century, whose maiden name was Miss Catherine SMITH of Pontiac, Ill., to whom he was married Sept. 13, 1863, is left to mourn her devoted husband. Deceased was born in Donegal, Ir., June 25, 1827, came to this country when twenty-five years of age, living in New York City for a time, removing to Bloomington, Ill. and later to South Dakota. Their nine living children, James of Sisseton, Mrs. E. W. ADAMS, of Casper, Wyo., John of Beaver Creek, Minn., Mrs. M. J. ELLSWORTH of Adrian, Minn., Will of Carpenter, Wyo., Thos. of Effington, Mrs. Jay PRICE of Claire City, Charles of Sisseton and Frank of Granite Falls, Minn., were at his bedside when he died. One daughter, Irene, died in infancy. He was a kind, genial gentleman, a good citizen and always led an exemplary, Christian life. The funeral was held Tuesday, Rev. Fr. O’HARRA officiating.

Mary McMAHON

Miss Mary MCMAHON, age 78 years, for many years a resident of Chicago and of Joliet for the past year, died yesterday afternoon at 5 o’clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Julia MAHONEY, 1013 Cass Street. Surviving besides Mrs. MAHONEY are the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Charles COONEY, Mrs. Charles WALLACE, John MAHONEY and Margaret MAHONEY, all of Joliet, and Joseph of Pueblo. Also several other nieces and nephews, children of Lawrence MCMAHON of Champaign, Illinois, and Patrick MCMAHON of Iowa. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9 o’clock from the MAHONEY home to St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in Mt. Oliver Cemetery. Friends are asked to please omit flowers.

Mary McNamara Dies Following Long Illness: Mrs Mary McNamara, 808 Wilcox street, died yesterday at St Joseph’s hospital following an illness of 15 months’ duration. The widow of the late James McNamara who preceded her in death 16 years ago and was a brakeman for the EJ&E railroad. Mrs McNamara was also preceded in death by a son, Laurence J McNamara who died two years ago. A native of Braidwood, she lived in Joliet the last 38 years. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Guardian Angel Sewing Guild, LCBA and Lady Trainmen. Surviving are a son, James E McNamara; three daughters, Mrs Joseph C Miller of Joliet, Mrs Joseph R Richardson of Lockport, Mrs John T Kwasegroch of Blue Island, Ill; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. TJ O’Connor of Wellington Kan, Mrs AW Hall, Mrs William Maffett of Racine, Wis; and a brother Laurence Barrett of Waukegan Ill. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9am from the Fred C Dames Funeral home. St Raymond’s church for services at 9:30am. Burial (will) be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Braidwood, Sept 9 — Special to the Republican. Donald McVicar died at his home on East Main Street yesterday afternoon, about 3:30 after a short illness, from neuralgia of the stomach. He leaves a widow and family to mourn his loss, who have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement. Deceased was a member of Braidwood lodge, A.F. and A. M. and Clan McKenzie, O.S.C. The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
