Ara B. YOUNG
Good Man Buried Funeral of Mr. Ara B. YOUNG Held Yesterday in Jackson’s Grove The funeral services of Mr. Ara B. YOUNG were held at the Brown Church, Jackson’s Grove, Sunday. After a short service at the house of Mr. Levi H. EIB, brother-in-law of the deceased, the funeral cortege left for the Grove, where the interment took place. The deceased was the eldest son of Sheldon and Eliza Young. Although his residence had been in the West for the last twenty years, he still had many warm friends at the old homestead. His genial disposition, kind manner and ready hospitality won for him the friendship and affection of all, wherever he went. An honored and influential citizen, he will be missed by the community in which he lived. he was an obedient and affectionate son, and a loving and devoted husband. A widow and three children, two of whom are married, survive him.

Elda YOUNKER
Visitation for Elda Marie Henrietta Pries Younker, 85 of rural Peotone, will be from 3-8 pm Friday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, where services will be held at 11 am Saturday. Rev. Bill Riegle will officiate. Burial will be in Peotone Cemetery, Pallbearers will be William, Andrew, Terren and Dusten Maves, David Harper and Nickolas, Matthew, David, Daniel and Rany Younker. Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Peotone, where she was a lifelong member. She died Monday, August 8, 2005 at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital, Kankakee. She was born May 28, 1920 in rural Peotone, the daughter of Henry and Mary Mittag Pries. Her husband, William N. Younker, whom she married March 5, 1944 in Peotone, died in 1994. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at her church and the Eastern Will County Senior Services. She loved gardening. Surviving are three sons and daughters in law, Lee and Cheryl Younker, Gene and Christine Younker, all of Peotone, Willis and Mary Younker of Battle Creek, Michigan; two daughers and sons in law, Holly and Gene Maves of Peotone and Gale and Alan Harper of Frenso, California; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. One brother, Emory Pries, is deceased.

Benjamin YUNKER Dies in Hospital Benjamin YUNKER, 86 years old, a former Wilmington resident, died last night at 6:30 o’clock in Silver Cross hospital following an illness of 26 days duration. Mr. Yunker has made his home for the past four years with his nice Mrs. Robert PITCAIRN, 1305 Briargate avenue. His wife, Mrs. Mary FRIDLEY YUNKER, preceded him in death four years ago.

Benjamin Yunker, a resident of Wilmington for many years passed away in Silver Cross hospital, Joliet, Saturday, May 26, 1945. He was born December 4, 1858 at San Ridge, Grundy county. He was the husband of the late Mary FRIDLEY who passed away July 2, 1939. They resided on a farm near Wilmington from 1887 until 1919 when they moved to Wilmington. Following his wife’s death six years ago, Mr. Yunker made his home in Elwood until 1941. Since that time he has lived in Joliet. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Addleman funeral home Tuesday afternoon, May 29 at 2:30 o’clock with Rev. Glenn DUNBAR officiating. Mrs. Joan MACK and Miss Glenda MOONE sang Abide With Me and Good Night and Good Morning. They were accompanied by Mrs. Glenn DUNBAR. Pallbearers were Henry BRODIE, Lawrence BITTERMANN, Julius LUTHER, John ALLEN, Godfred ARNSTROM, and Walter GIDDINES. Interment was in Oakwood [Protestant] Cemetery, Wilmington.

Bruce Lee YUNKER Age 56, of Peotone passed away Saturday, December 27, 2003 at home. He was born September 23, 1947 in Blue Island, IL, the son of Dorothy (nee HENNING) BEAVER of Peotone and the late Norman Harvey YUNKER. He worked as a carpenter with Murray Brothers of Peotone. He was a member of Peotone Sportsmen Club, Peotone Bowling League, and founder of the Tuesday Night 501 Dart League. He is survived by his mother, daughter Brook YUNKER, brothers Norman YUNKER of South Chicago Heights, IL, Keith (Peggy) YUNKER of Peotone, IL and Terry YUNKER of Joliet, IL, sister Sandra (Wilbur) TESKE of Peotone, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary YUNKER
Mrs. Benjamin Yunker passed away in the home of her brother John FRIDLEY of Elwood, Sunday, July 2, 1939. Her death followed an illness of several months, which she bore with true Christian fortitude. Mary A. FRIDLEY, daughter of John and Mary FRIDLEY, was born November 13, 1864 in Florence Township, where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage with Benjamin Yunker October 14, 1885. They began housekeeping in Morris where they resided for 18 months. They then moved to Florence Township where they remained until December 1919 when they came to Wilmington to make their home. One son Tracy, who was born to Mr. And Mrs. Yunker, died June 26, 1919. Surviving relatives are the husband, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Alice Yunker, of Maywood; one brother, John FRIDLEY, of Elwood; one nephew, Ernest FRIDLEY, of Elwood; two nieces, Mrs. Robert PITCAIRN of Elwood and Mrs. Charles FAULKNER of Florence Township. Mrs. Yunker was a faithful member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a kind neighbor, a friend in time of need and a woman desirous of being helpful to others at all times. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church, Wilmington, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. J. Frank ANDERSON assisted by Rev. Glenn DUNBAR of Hampshire conducted the services. Mrs. William WHITMORE, Mrs. Donald HARROD, Misses Eva and Della CASSINGHAM sang Rock of Ages and Abide With Me. Mrs. Mabel MARSHALL was the accompanist. Serving as pallbearers were Henry OBLHUES; Thomas HASKERVILLE; L.A. HILLDERMANN, C. J. LUTHER, William WHITMORE, Sr., and Frank BARRY. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery [Wilmington].

Stanley E. YUNKER
Stanley E. YUNKER Age 88, of Minooka, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Orland Park, IL on October 15, 1915 to the late Edward and Mary (nee VITT)YUNKER. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Violet (nee MOSEL); six children, Leslie (Clara) of Plainfield, Elaine (Russel) PEPPERS of Champaign, Melvin (Sharon), Larry (Sandy) both of Rose Creek, MN, Marilyn (Gerald) HAUSAM of Dixon, KY, and Donna (Jay) LUDEMAN of Lake Mills, WI. Proud grandfather of 16 and the great grandfather of 12. Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth; one sister, Thelma BRUHN; and a grandson, Douglas E. PEPPERS. Mr. Yunker was a dairy farmer all of his life before retiring in 1976. He then continued to enjoy tilling the land while working in his vegetable garden and cultivating fruit trees. He was a long time member of Minooka United Methodist Church and a DeKalb Seed Corn dealer for several years. He was a square dance enthusiast and a faithful fan of the Chicago Cubs. He will be dearly missed. Stanley YUNKER will be lying in state on Saturday, January 24, 2004 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 10:30 a.m. at Minooka United Methodist Church located at 205 Church Street. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Preferred memorials and tributes may be made to Minooka United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
